Semi automatic tare line
The semi-automatic weighing and sorting line developed by RMA Techniek consists of the following components:
Weighing platform
Calculates the gross weight of the placed sample, which is displayed on a control screen/input screen.
Dosing conveyor + Vibrator
Doses potatoes by vibrating them on a conveyor belt before they reach the 3D camera. For larger quantities, the dosing conveyor can be stopped before entering the 3D camera.
3D camera
Measures the length of the potatoes using a 3D sensor, determining the dimensions of each passing potato. This information is collected and made available online per sample.
Semi-automatic washer/peeler
The peeler is designed to peel or wash a sample of potatoes weighing up to 40 kg. Potatoes are thrown into the machine (or automatically fed), and upon pressing start, the bottom, which consists of a peeling disc or washing disc, rotates. The potatoes are flung around in the drum, and the peeling disc removes the skin by abrasion. In the washer, dirt is removed from the potatoes by rinsing and rubbing them against each other while rotating. After a set time, the washer/peeler ejects the potatoes onto the conveyor belt through the discharge flap.
The washing/peeling time can be adjusted on the supplied screen. The process is carried out in a controlled manner, so that not all potatoes end up on the discharge conveyor at once.
Inspection table
The inspection table is designed to test the quality of the potatoes. The potatoes are washed and weighed, and data can be entered for the potato samples using the HMI screen. An emergency stop is available on the HMI screen in case of emergencies.
Manual brine bath
The brine bath is designed to separate potatoes with a low dry matter content from potatoes with a high dry matter content. It is a bath filled with water containing a certain salt concentration. The potatoes sink into the brine bath by manually lowering the basket.
Semi-automatic underwater weighing system
The underwater weighing system is designed to determine the dry matter content of potatoes. By weighing the sample both above and below water, the dry matter content can be calculated using a formula.
Once the machine is started and calibrated to zero, the basket can be filled with a sample of potatoes weighing up to 15 kg. The basket is hung on the designated hook, and the cycle can be started using the start button. First, the machine will weigh the weight above water. Then, the cylinder will extend, allowing the basket to be submerged underwater, where the weight will be measured again. The cylinder will then retract, and based on the weights, the machine will determine the dry matter content. After the cycle is completed, the green light will turn on, and the dry matter content will be displayed.
