Potato Crate Handling
Dosing vibrator
The potatoes are placed on the conveyor belt of a photo unit. The potatoes are stopped on this belt and a photo is taken of the sample. To always guarantee the same lighting conditions, this is a closed space that is equipped with its own lighting.
When the photo has been taken, the potatoes are transported to the dosing vibrator. The vibrator is used in combination with a length meter. In this case, the vibrator ensures that the potatoes are supplied in a dosed manner towards the 3D camera, resulting in higher accuracy.
Due to the vibrating / shaking effect of this vibrating chute, the potatoes are moved in the direction of the 3D camera.
3D Camera
The 3D camera was developed to measure the length, width and height of potatoes. The 3D camera will act in an automated sampling line. The 3D camera will use a 3D sensor to determine the dimensions of each passing potato. This information is collected per sample and made available online.
The 3D camera consists of a conveyor belt that runs under a sealed space. In this room, the 3D sensor can determine the dimensions of the potato with the aid of a laser beam. The data of each potato will be stored. Subsequently, the potatoes are transported to the roller sorter.
Roller sorter
This machine has been developed to sort potatoes by size. It is part of a taring process in which the smaller potatoes are filtered out. A conveyor belt unloads the potato samples on the sorter, where the smaller potatoes are separated from the larger potatoes. The potatoes are then unloaded into weighing buckets, after which the weight is determined.
Crate system
The filling of the crates starts when the roller conveyor transports the crates under the weighing buckets. A cylinder stops the crates so that they can be filled by the weighing buckets.
After the sample is completely in the crate, the roller conveyor discharges the full crates. At the end of this roller conveyor is a sensor that registers whether the roller conveyor is full.
