Potato Bruise Testing Machine

RMA-Techniek was commissioned to develop a machine that tests the sensitivity of potatoes. Together with the customer, we looked at the different specifications and functions required for the machine. Below you can find an overview of the machine's features:

• Mechanically driven shaker

• Interchangeable shaking tray

• Control screen

This machine is designed to test how quickly different potato varieties develop bruises. The potatoes are shaken at different speeds to test their sensitivity. It is possible to test two different varieties or two different samples at the same time. The speed and testing time of the machine can be fully adjusted using the control screen.

By carrying out this test, the quality and sensitivity of a batch of potatoes can be assessed, including the effect of the starch content on bruise development.
